Main Yard Power Supply & Routing Wiring

The large power supply (top of picture) supplies 10 amps of power, enough to power the entire layout.

All those yellow wires provide the routing logic for the main yard, a very complex bit of work to make the operation of the yard simple.

  2. Dear Sir,

In the British ” Model Railway Journal ” ( Wild Swan Publications ) ( and collectors of IBM golfball typewriters ! ) a few years back ( searchable Index available at Scalefour Society website ) there was an article by a gentleman who installed tortoise point motors some time after completeing his layout using radio controlled model aircraft nylon cranks and cables to connect shelf mounted tortoises to his existing points.

This meant that the motors and wiring were easily accessable and saved him the trouble of wiring the layout upside down.

Lynn Westcott’s book on model railroad wiring ( Kalmbach 1953 – 1967 ) also advocated shelf mounting of point motors with point rodding for accessability.

I like your layout and website, best wishes and regards,
