1:1 Turnout

Not a model…..

I took this picture earlier this summer when my wife and I went for a hot air balloon ride. We passed directly over top of this turnout (switch), and was able to get a unique look at it. It is surprising how much it looks like a model, even the proportions. I would guess this is likely a #8 or smaller. It is at one end of a run-around track. For the locals, it runs parallel to Webster Rd., between Manitou and Wilson Ave. in Kitchener.

Frisbie baking company

A.K.A. Brett’s Brewery

This started out as Campbell’s Brett’s Brewery kit, which I built pretty much stock. I added the scratch built warehouse building shown in the front to help disguise this popular kit.

The warehouse is completely scratch built, including the brickwork masters I made a mold for and cast in plaster.

There is a bit of a story behind the name of this industry, see if you can figure it out…
