This yard must be in a bad neighbourhood, someone stole the wheels!
The older railroad cars were so much more interesting. The only thing the modern equipment has going for it is the colourful graffiti! Newer equipment is like newer buildings, built quick and utilitarian.
You have to respect the people who built these cars. All those rivets would have been inserted one at a time, by two men (or women during the war), one down inside the tank, and one outside. You can bet they weren’t wearing any hearing protection and the noise in there would have certainly been deafening while the work was completed bent over inside the cramped tank, for 12 hours a day.
