Picture stolen from the Library of Congress

I think it is Chicago, but I could be wrong. I got this image, along with several others, from a collection of colour images taken in the 1930’s and 40’s at the Library of Congress website.
This is one of the most amazing collections of pictures I have seen online, 1600 in total, broke down into specific categories, including a railroad category.

This picture looks like something right off of a model railroad. I don’t think I would want to scale those fire escapes!

What a great picture! This was sent to me over the weekend by a friend (the blurry one) of mine, and I thought it would make a pretty good Picture of the Day. What really makes it interesting is the advertisement painted onto the rocks in the distance. I don’t think any company would get away with that today!

I found a picture taken at this same location in 1905. There was actually a double slip switch right on the bridge! Again, not something you would see today.
