I really like the “depressing” effect of this picture, creates a real mood when looking at it. I find these to be very interesting buildings, especially the way the stone foundation kinds of morphs into the brick. The questionable porches, or the complete lack of a porch and the air conditioners hovering along the walls. A good example of old structures being kept alive. Tomorrow I should post a picture of sunshine, we’re having some of that today. Its been a while….

Springtime in Paris

Paris, Ontario that is….

I think it would be more accurate to say that I am interested in modeling in general, and not limited to model railroading. What fascinates me about model railroading as much as the trains is the landscape and urban scape they run through. I spend quite a bit of time observing buildings, especially the older Victorian era types. Like a lot of modelers, were most people see dilapidated buildings, I see a potential addition to the layout.

This is a close shot of a long row of buildings along the Grand River in Paris, Ontario. These are an interesting study, they seem to just spring up out of the water. This scene would make an interesting addition to any layout.

I will post a picture showing the entire row tomorrow.

Old Factory

Trapped girl

I didn’t see her until I looked at the picture. This is cropped from a larger shot of the side of the building, I guess she saw me walking around taking pictures, and decided to add to the shot…

This building I believe is the old Boehmer Box factory, in Kitchener, Ont.
