of CN locomotives over the years

This is a rather well known Canadian railroading picture. A nice collection of CN locomotives from different eras. I believe this was shot in the 70’s sometime, and I suspect none of these are in running condition today.

I have seen several pictures like this over the years. I am not sure what causes the track to sag at the rail joints, I suppose that is where the most vibration occurs causing the ballast to sink. I have seen a few layouts where this effect was delibratly done, and while it looked good in pictures, overall, it just looked like poorly constructed track work.
A telephoto lens exaggerates this effect too.
Thanks Armin for the picture!

No, this isn’t in the Caribbean, its Lake Ontario in the winter. This bizarre contraption has been sitting in a little bay outside of St. Catherine’s for several years now. At one time it was completely planked with wood, but I think it caught fire a few years back. It actually looks better now.
I think it was supposed to be a restaurant at one time. I doubt it was ever seaworthy.
