This is an inset from yesterday’s

Bad Dreams movie download

picture, taken from the Library of Congress website. Every image available is posted in a few sizes, and one of these is an “ultra” large TIFF. I downloaded this 140 megabyte large version and cropped out a small piece showing a close up of the work being done.

On close inspection the detail can be seen, right down to the individual telegraph poles! This area shows a rail yard from somewhere, so naturally that is what I focused on…

I wonder what happened to all these models.

2006 Doubleheaders layout tour flyer

As of today (Wednesday April 5) there are 3 days left until the 2006 edition of the Doubleheaders layout tour. The will the the last time to see the Port Kelsey Ry. in its current setting, as we are going to be moving this year, and will have to dismantle the layout. This could very well be the last Doubleheaders tour we are a part of as well, unless we are able to find a suitable location in the area. So far I am not optimistic….

Map to the Port Kelsey Ry. Layout #34

There are over 40 layouts this year, so it makes for a full day of railroading.

Hardwired the movie Another image from the Library of Congress collection. Lets face it, this picture is cool! They are working on a reference model for the Air Force to study, a tool to familiarize pilots with the lay of the land at altitude.

What surprises me is how well done it is, as good as anything built today with all the latest scenery products.
